Here we are at the Le Meridien Hotel Monaco for the ‘Game Set and Match’ Gala dinner – the inaugural charity event of the Champseed Foundation. This wonderful foundation was established by Patrick Mouratoglou, one of the top worldwide tennis trainers, formally coaching Serena Williams and Jeremy Chardy, also founder of the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy, with an impressive list of top international players and prize lists.
The foundation’s objective is to support young tennis talent all around the globe, in need of funding to reach the highest international level. The Foundation actually finances the training of those talented individuals, along with their education and participation in international tournaments, which can be very costly. With financial support, Patrick and his foundation aim to help “young tennis players’ dreams come true” and avoid the chance to miss the new star of tomorrow’s professional tennis scene.
For his Premiere Charity with its new foundation, we can assuredly say that Mr. Mouratoglou has made a big hit. I was impressed by the extensive guest list gathering a large number of international celebrities and some of the best worldwide tennis players. A top VIP audience and some Royal personalities – you couldn’t ask for a better atmosphere under one roof!
On the same day, The Champseed Foundation also organized a tennis tournament with all the celebrities and professional players. A fun and relaxed tournament to feel the tennis buzz right before the gala dinner later in the day, with a special presentation of the ChampSeed Trophies to the respective winners.
Serena Williams, Honorary President of the Gala dinner and number one tennis player on the WTA list, was not the only international personality at the event: Caroline Wozniacki, Jeremy Chardy, Martina Hingis, Marion Bartoli, Thomas Enqvist were also present to support Mr. Mouratoglou’s Foundation.
And as a great surprise, there were some glamorous international celebrities in the house, including Eva Longoria, Nicole Scherzinger, Bob Sinclar and Talia Storm to name a few.
So how did the night unfold?
It started with the red carpet rollout; packed-full with media, press photographers and cameras. I had the privilege to interview Patrick Mouratoglou and get a few words on his vision for the foundation and also find out more about him. I can certainly tell that Patrick’s motivation is to help as much as he can, and boost the potential best players of tomorrow to reach the top of international acclaim.
A true philanthropist, he is willing to help the sportsmen in need and with his association he has finally the right means to support the young talent of the international tennis circuit.
I also exchanged a few words with Sheeva Moshiri, who received the Young Philanthropist Award at the event. Sheeva is a jewellery designer, living between London and the French Riviera/Monaco.
She has a great passion for tennis, and is a real philanthropist, helping people in need. With her great smile and character, she reminds us in the interview that you do not necessarily need money to become a philanthropist, you can help with your actions, your personality, your time and support.
It has been with great pleasure for me to wear Sheeva’s jewellery creations for this charity event. In fact some of her pieces were up for sale in order to raise money for the foundation.
My absolute favorites?
The Cross Shield unisex cufflinks in sterling silver. Not only are the cufflinks stylish but also represent protection, spiritualism, love and peace.
As for the limited edition bracelet – a unique piece made from black sheep nappa leather and sterling silver – simply a designer gem! The jewellery is not only exquisitely smooth to wear, but serves as great opposition, adding a ‘rock n roll’ twist to the classic tux! The eccentricity of Sheeva jewellery pieces is what makes them unique indeed!
Speaking of the tux, as one of my favorite outfits, I have been rocking the sleek tuxedo by Brooks Brothers Monaco. Thanks to the great work of the Brooks Brothers Store located in the Yacht Club de Monaco, the size of the jacket and pants has been perfectly tailored to my proportions. I have also handpicked a beautiful dark red Bow Tie – a favorite color of mine, to combine with the black suit. All this complemented with my slim-fit shirt, a unique creation boasting a special wing collar and removable ‘mother of pearl’ button strips and stud set … the perfect touch for a well dressed man!
After an awesome time on the red carpet and a few more interviews with Bob Sinclar and Talia Storm it was time to get on with the Gala Dinner.
The night was accentuated by different artist performances, with Talia Storm opening the show, along with live magic shows, Sheeva Moshiri and Serena Williams speeches and, of course Patrick Mouratoglou introducing his Foundation and vision.
After the star-studded line-up, it was time for a great auction and bidding time.
From the sale of a collection of tennis rackets signed by S. Williams, Novak Djokovic and Martina Hingis, to the simple will of investing money into young talented players for a full year of training and support – a lot of hands were in the air to raise funds, even the one of a highly esteemed individual that night, Mr. Pierre Casiraghi, who expressed his support for the ChampSeed Foundation.
After more than a 100,000€ in funds raised, the beats of a world-renowned DJ announced the time of celebration and it was no doubt the perfect atmosphere to gather and take some nice pictures!
After the success of this inaugural charity event we can just wish the best of luck to Patrick Mouratoglou for the next steps and events of his new ChampSeed Foundation. And finally, we hope to see one of the supported tennis talents, among the top worldwide tennis players. This would indeed be a great return and recognition to Patrick and all the philanthropic work:
“Making dreams come true”!
