GPF1 MONACO
HERMITAGE HOTEL
Just fifteen days after an incredible Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, it was time to be part of one of the most prestigious sporting events in Monte-Carlo and around the globe—the 74th edition of the Formula One Grand Prix de Monte-Carlo. The most legendary race in the Formula One season, the Grand Prix de Monte-Carlo is adored by fans and feared by the drivers since the circuit is one of the most demanding in the championship with numerous elevation shifts, tight corners and a narrow track.
It’s also the only Grand Prix in the world that takes place in the center of a country (even if it’s a small one like Monaco) with roads open to the public between the races. This year, I caught the event from spots like the magnificent Monte-Carlo SBM Hermitage Hôtel’s terrace, as well as the relaxing Café de Paris where I was joined by a close friend, Victoria Bonya.

With its views overlooking the Mediterranean and the Port Hercules, the hotel’s terrace is the perfect spot to watch the Grand Prix as cars race around the legendary Avenue d’Ostende.

I came decked out in full gentleman’s attire: a complete look by Brooks Brothers Monaco with old-school suspenders over a crisp white summer shirt with a sleek dark blue and rose dot bow tie.
To keep the look contemporary, I threw on electric blue pants and white sneakers, adding a pair of the very first Thom Browne-designed shades to give the style a special twist.
The sun is already beating down pretty heavily, so I’m going to take a break from the race and grab breakfast. The Crystal Terrace is a great spot to still catch the race on the big screens while relaxing al fresco in the lounge area.

To capture the GP by photo and video, I have just the perfect device today: a bespoke edition of the Vertu luxury phone. Handmade in London in an eye-catching orange premium leather, the phone is truly a unique one with its carbon finishing on the back that not only looks and feels light and stylish, it features a quality camera that’s perfect for shooting the race.
As noon approaches, I’m heading over to the Salle Belle Époque at the Hermitage where the Paddock Lounge, a VIP area serving top-notch food and drinks, is located. It is extraordinary to be able to enjoy the GPF1 lounge services created by Monte-Carlo SBM in this iconic room that’s steeped in history.
To match my surroundings, I changed into outfit numéro deux going for something more classic while sticking with the Brooks Brothers style. Blue sneakers match my light jacket topping a strong, red pull-over and a white shirt. For just the right subtle touch of elegance, I added on a red pocket square.
Now for my favorite part: the shades. It’s not the first time you’ll see a pair from Leisure Society here, but today’s are extra special since they’re the Oxford in 24K gold-plated titanium with a clip-on.
Designed by Shane Baum, the sunglasses sport top-notch finishes and are one of the most incredible pieces of eyewear I have ever worn. Numbered and handmade in Japan, this brand is one of my top recommendations for the summer.
