POP UP SUITE
Can you remember my previous experience at Hôtel de Paris Suite 321? Well, the pop-up suite is now home to a new theme with a completely revamped look from the legendary Studio Harcourt Paris. For a limited time while the Hôtel de Paris is under renovation, Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer is partnering with prestigious brands to reinvent Suite 321 with collaborations lasting a few months at a time.
Let’s look at the new Harcourt Suite, running from October 18 to January 31, 2017.
I pull up to Casino Square in a green McLaren 570S, definitely making an entrance. With its 3.8-litre twin turbo V8, the McLaren is not only super powerful, it’s also super quick going from 0 to 124MPH in 9.5 seconds. I also love one of the sports car’s signature features: butterfly doors that swing open to make entering and exiting as effortless as possible.
While tourists start gathering to take photos of my car, I grab my bag and head up to take a look at Hôtel de Paris’s new Suite 321.
Today my Bugatti Lifestyle Monaco ensemble is totally sports themed with sleek brown sneakers, grey trousers and a leather jacket to top it all off. To carry my weekend essentials, I brought a stunning brown structured Bugatti bag.
When it comes to sunglasses, you know how picky I can be. For this look, I went with a similar style by Leisure Society, the Eze edition, handmade in Japan in black and gold with a 24K gold finish.
I step into Hôtel de Paris and reach the elevator at the end of the lobby, heading up to the third floor that houses the Suite HPMC 321. The suite sports a clean design with sharp lines and, of course, a majority of black, grey and white tones with a hint of red here and there on the carpets and curtains.
I love minimalist chic design and red is my favorite color, so of course I was enamored with this space. On the walls you’ll find a variety of printed Harcourt portraits showcasing famous faces from Melanie Laurent to Novak Djokovic and Karl Lagerfeld. Near the entrance, a full Harcourt photo studio is set up with all the necessary equipment to take a stunning official Harcourt portrait.
In case you haven’t noticed, I’ve completely changed my sporty ensemble from earlier. Now I’ve gone for a more elegant look with a grey Brooks Brothers Monaco suit and purple tie, which adds a touch of originality and sharpness to the look.
On my wrist, I’m wearing the elegant Chopard L.U.C Quattro Platinum edition watch. One of my favorites, this timepiece encompasses all of the elements I love: class, elegance, simplicity and minimalism, with a sharp finish.
For the connoisseurs, the watch bears the prestigious Poinçon de Genève certificate, meaning the movement has to be assembled and adjusted in Canton of Geneva. It needs to be numbered and meet the craftsmanship criteria established by the label Technical Committee, which was created in 1886 to protect Geneva watchmaking.
Going back to the suite, I tour the bathroom that’s all white and flooded with light. Even the towels here are embroidered with the Harcourt logo.
I have my own little wardrobe in the room with clothes that have been set aside for me. After seeing the suite, I can’t wait to add my own pop of red to my ensemble.
In the corner of the bedroom, meanwhile, you’ll find a make-up light that adds to the photo shoot feeling. In fact, if you book a three-night stay here you can get pampered for your very own photo shoot, complete with 20 official black-and-white portraits. This is something I’ll definitely have to experience while the suite is in Monaco.
I’m now wearing a red Brooks Brothers tie and stone grey pull over that I layered with a jacket. My shades today are Leisure Society in 12K silver with clip-ons. I like to switch up colors and materials, so these silver finish ones are perfect. Plus, the shades are numbered so they’re even more exclusive.
The suite’s bedroom has a direct view over Casino Square, where there is always some action. This is also the perfect spot to take photos with my Vertu Signature Touch Clous de Paris edition phone, which features a large sapphire crystal screen and 21MP camera.
I also love the details on the back, which is done up in luxe grey leather with polished Grade-5 titanium detailing. Of course the phone is top of the line in terms of looks, but Vertu also offers global Wi-Fi, meaning you can connect to any Wi-Fi hotspot without a code or additional subscription. This has been such a lifesaver for me while traveling. And for those who want to be sure the information they share during the conversation is kept confidential, you can opt for an encrypted communications service.
It’s been such an incredible journey today at the Harcourt pop-up suite taking in all of the celebrity portraits along the wall and seeing this suite transformed into the legendary Parisian studio’s darkroom.
Before leaving the hotel, I can’t resist popping in to the iconic Bar Américain for a quick classic cocktail before heading out to see a friend in Monte-Carlo and continue on with my picture-perfect day.
