The sky may be grey today in the South of France, but there are definitely good business opportunities ahead. I’m currently in St. Tropez, a town that’s a favorite among the jetset crowd, where I’ve just closed an important deal on my client’s mega yacht.
My office in London called early this morning to schedule a meeting later this afternoon to discuss a 10 million-euro contract, the result of a one-year discussion with my client.
My assistant, who is based in La City, manages my private flight bookings and quickly called our personal flight manager from AirGO, a private jet charter company based in Germany with aircrafts operating a lot into the major business aviation airports in Nice, London, Geneva and Paris.
For the past 15 years, AirGO has specialized in business flights around Europe and is known for quick, efficient and perfect services, so it’s no surprise my private jet was already on the way, arriving into the nearby Avignon Airport. I usually fly from the Nice Côte d’Azur Airport, which is really close to my office in Monaco, but today the schedule is too tight and this was the closest spot we could arrange. But not a problem!
I see it as another occasion to drive my new Ferrari F488 GTB, a beast of a sports car with 670 horsepower, replacing the previous 458 this year. Powered by a 3.9-litre, twin-turbocharged V8, this baby is so quick that my back feels like it’s been permanently attached to the seat the entire ride.
What I love about working with AirGO is that the company always manages to make difficult requests come true and they’re flexible with hours. Since I have no time to waste, I requested special access on the ground with my car to save time in the private jet terminal.
As I turn the car engine off—a pity when you know that beautiful purring sound generated by the Ferrari F488 GTB—the plane’s captain is already heading my way to help carry and load my bag on board.
I’m accompanied to the jet where the copilot is waiting for us, a great team of professionals who I’m already familiar with since I flew with the same crew last month, which helps me relax a bit since I know the trip will be a smooth one….as usual.
Today I’m flying in the Piaggio P180 Avanti II aircraft, one that is truly special with its sleek Italian aerodynamic design and three-surface configuration with twin turboprop engines.
Hosting up to seven passengers in the stand-up cabin, it’s the most spacious option on the market in the light jet class category. The cozy leather reclinable seats not only offer the perfect place for a power nap, they’re also spacious enough to serve as a relaxing work place while I prepare for my meetings.
With its low operating cost, this jet ends up being a better deal for me (the consumer), as well as my business. And while it’s the fastest light jet, the Piaggio P180 Avanti II is also one with the lowest level of pollution emission in this class, burning 40 percent less fuel. So maybe I can’t say I’m flying green, but at least I’m flying on board of a very efficient aircraft.
Of course I couldn’t step aboard without looking the part, so my business attire today is just as sleek as the jet I’m flying in. I’m wearing a charcoal grey suit from Louis Vuitton with a smooth pocket square and an LV limited-edition skinny tie designed with a graphic rope motif.
Since the weather is quite cool today, I threw a coat over the suit and sealed the look with a scarf. It just so happens my Damier Graphite canvas travel bag matched perfectly and is just the right size to serve as a carry-on while still holding all the essentials.
On my feet I’m sporting the stylish derby in supple calf leather, with their decorative perforations on the upper part and LV initials on the toe—tiny details I love that make all the difference.
No matter the weather, one accessory I can’t go without is a good pair of shades and today I’m wearing one of my favorites from this year, a pair of Thom Browne Tb-101, with round, dark grey lenses that are slightly less severe than traditional black lenses.
Business travelers can’t go without the right timepiece, and I’ve found just the thing for today’s journey—a 46mm diameter Klepcys Chronograph from the recent Cyrus collection, made of titanium and steel with a power reserve of 48 hours.
Not only does the watch’s sleek look suit my sophisticated style, it’s also comfortable to wear thanks to the rubber band.
The flight just finished and I have to head off to my meetings, but before I go, I’d like to give a special thanks to AirGO, whom I highly recommend, which proved once again it’s one of the major players in the private jet charter industry for business travel in Europe.
I wish you all productive days, stay classy, and I will talk to you soon for my next story,
