Just a few kilometers away from Monaco lies the charming peninsula of Cap-Ferrat, a little haven of peace where it feels marvelous to relax come summer.
Known for its super-luxe villas, Cap-Ferrat has one property that’s a destination in itself: : the Four Seasons Grand-Hôtel du Cap-Ferrat.
Since opening its doors in 1908, this resort has been a landmark on the French Riviera. The seaside spot shows off panoramic views of the coast from its sumptuous guestrooms and suites, which feature their own private pools. Of course there’s also magnificent gardens, an incredible spa, an Olympic-sized pool at the Club Dauphin, and a private villa sitting just next door.
My day couldn’t have started any better. I arrive at the hotel in a stunning light grey Rolls Royce Wraith by RM Autosport Monaco, wearing a luxurious beach blazer by 209 Mare, a new brand that’s already become one of my favorites.
BEACH BLAZER CONCEPT
209 has reinvented the rules when it comes to upscale men’s beachwear.
In my opinion, 209 has truly added a new level of elegance and refinement where we needed it: at the beach, by the pool, on a yacht. And what better location to launch such a concept than Monaco and the French Riviera?
The signature product, the Beach Blazer, is something I have recently discovered. This fashion statement looks as luxe as it feels. Inspired by the Art Deco days of the 1920s French Riviera, the blazer is carefully handcrafted in Italy from bamboo fiber, lined with mother of pearl buttons.
As if this isn’t unique enough, each 209 Beach Blazer comes packaged in a custom crocodile leather-style textured, velvet-lined box inspired by haute horlogerie. I must say I love wearing it, and I have a true weakness for the collar, since it reminds me of one on a tuxedo jacket.
Enough about my new obsession. Let’s explore the hotel, starting with the private Villa Rose-Pierre. Expect all the signature Four Seasons services in a setting offering the utmost in privacy. The pink four-bedroom villa is surrounded by a hectare of gardens where you’ll find a private pool and tennis court with sea view, extensive outdoor terraces, a fitness room, sauna, and rooftop terrace.
Charlotte joined me for this summertime retreat, which makes for the perfect place to relax and recharge your batteries. When we arrive, we start exploring the property by strolling through the beautiful gardens. Shortly after, we head inside and up to the villa’s pièce de résistance: the rooftop terrace.
After soaking up these views, we head down to the pool for a dip and toast to our stay with a glass of Dom Pérignon Plénitude 2. Magnifique.
ATTENTION TO DETAIL
To get ready for the pool, I throw on another 209 piece: the swim shorts. The shorts come in a range of colors and are crafted from an Italian-sourced nylon specially treated to have a soft finish. The simple design with strong attention to detail is one of the reasons why I love these shorts so much. The founders think of everything, including a waterproof pouch that can be used to keep your accessories dry when you’re by the water.
Lunch is ready and served right on our terrace. I jump out of the water and throw on my Beach Blazer to help dry off. Now it’s time to enjoy the marvelous meal!
Later that afternoon, I want to do something a bit more active. As a former competitive tennis player, the court by the house definitely catches my eye. Of course 209 Mare has just the piece for the occasion, but this time I’m wearing a color combo of orange and green.
Some people may say this isn’t the right style to play tennis in, but my response would be “Break the rules in style.” The brand’s founders, Federico and Gabriel Uribe, would probably agree.
BREAKING THE RULES
It’s time for us to leave this unbelievable house, but don’t worry. We’ll definitely be back here for another adventure with 209.
And don’t forget, dare to be bold this summer.
