It’s one of those summer days and our first on the French Riviera, so let’s head to Monaco. No map, no plans, no schedule. Just you, me and a day of adventure ahead. While sitting on the hood of a classic Mercedes 190SL Roadster, I know exactly where we should go—Monte-Carlo for a Garden of Eden-style experience, known to Italians as “La Dolce Vita.”
Ready for the day ahead, I’m decked out in an elegant Brooks Brothers Monaco outfit. To capture a summer feel, I’ve thrown on a pair of shorts with a striped tee topped by a classy navy blazer. Add a pocket square transformed into a tiny stylish scarf and my look is complete.
Since I’m a classic car lover, I decided to sport the Mille Miglia GTS Power Control timepiece, which goes well with my style and mood.
Powerful and robust, the 18K rose gold watch embodies all the hallmarks of the Chopard house: certified chronograph movement, water resistant, black dial with a power reserve indicator, and, of course, a fascinating design. I can’t think of a better accessory to wear on my wrist today while riding around in my classic Mercedes.
As the wind whips through our hair, we drive through the majestic Casino Square.
We are not going to stop and gamble, but we’ll make our way back here very soon. Glimpsing at the end of the bay along the sea, I spot the iconic rust-colored terracotta Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel. That’s exactly where we should go.
Easy going style from Society Club Monaco with my favorite shirt of the moment, light and made of the softest material by Ermenegildo Zegna, combined with the Dolce&Gabbana trousers and no shoes to walk around the pool comfortably.
Let’s lounge by the iconic saltwater Olympic-size pool and take a look at our collection of sunnies from Leisure Society.
Handmade in Japan with luxurious finishes like 24K gold-plated titanium, these sunglasses are perfect for everyone and any kind of look. Every time designer Shane Baum showcases a new model, he always manages to surprise me.
After a quick dip in the pool, I head a few meters away to the sea where I’m finally getting the chance to try out one of the most unique watersports: Flyboard. I throw on the boots linked to tubes and a jet ski and get ready to fly. It’s a tough exercise at first, but very addictive and great for adrenaline junkies.
While I’ve been hitting the water, my other half has been tanning in a private tent that you can rent out for the year for the ultimate VIP beach experience with top-of-the-line service.
The hotels has its own dock catering to smaller vessels like our classic RIVA Aquariva chartered by Monaco Boat Service, which arrives right on schedule to pick us up.
What an incredible boat: ultra-luxurious with a classic design plus a great space for sunbathing. We are spoiling ourselves a bit today, so we sip on Champagne while staring out at the sea and Prince’s Palace in the distance.
As the sun starts setting, we jet back over to the Monte-Carlo Beach Hotel for drinks.
The perfect place to catch the sunset, I sit back and relax at the Dom Pérignon pop-up lounge at La Vigie. To capture the essence of this moment, I switched modes and changed into a classic black-and-white three-piece suit that I picked out in Monaco at Society Club for the ultimate Great Gatsby look.
Since today is a Dolce Vita kind of day, I needed to add a touch of romanticism to the itinerary. We booked a table at Elsa, which features sweeping views of the sea from its stunning terrace.
One hundred percent organic, Chef Paolo Sari’s Michelin-starred restaurant offers a one-of-a-kind gourmet experience.
Just take a look at this stunning plate made of vegetables and flowers that’s not only gorgeous to stare at, it’s also incredibly delicious.
I haven’t had a free moment today to take a call or answer messages, so it feels good to connect again for a bit, especially on our Vertu phones.
Covered in a highly resilient Italian fabric, Vertu’s Aster edition comes in blue or rose Chevron canvas and has a contemporary design that pairs well with our Dolce journey. I also love the fact that when you purchase one of these beauties, it comes with a personal concierge service.
While I could easily get back in my car and hit the road for a drive, tonight is going to end with a relaxing dinner and drinks overlooking the sea. The hotel is completely quiet and calm, making it an ideal spot to spend away from the buzzier parts of Monte-Carlo, which we’ll have more than enough time to explore later.
