P2 1998 SUITE
PART 2: Discovering HPMC321: the first-ever Hôtel de Paris pop-up suite, designed by Dom Pérignon
Sitting on the third floor of the hotel, “La Suite Dom Pérignon P2” number 321 is only popping up for a short stretch of time from March 7-May 31. Dom Pérignon completely redid the suite for the occasion, even creating a dining room with a Michelin-starred, five-course menu designed by celeb chef Alain Ducasse. But before we get to this haute menu, let’s look at the décor.
As I open the door of the Dom Pérignon P2 Suite, I must admit, I’m quite surprised. The contrast between the historical architecture at the Hôtel de Paris and this super modern suite is huge. The interior design breaks all the codes of Hôtel de Paris with its sleek furniture, heavy marble, smoked glass, and black and gold tones (a tribute to Dom Pérignon’s colors). The majestic setting transports you into the world of Dom Pérignon and is enhanced by the Champagne flowing throughout each room.
For the occasion, I’m now wearing something a bit more formal, an ensemble from Brooks Brothers Monaco. Over the iconic iron Brooks Brothers shirt—the kind that won’t crease, even after wearing it an entire day—I threw on a beige jacket, classic blue jeans and a pair of beige suede tassel loafers. Crafted in Italy from supple suede with calfskin lining and leather soles, these loafers are one addition I’d definitely recommend having in your wardrobe to quickly spruce up a simple look and make it more sophisticated.
Before dinner is served, I want to fully explore the suite. The living room features a large sofa and two coffee tables made of marble, the perfect spot to sit down and sip a glass of Dom Pérignon Vintage 2006 as an apéritif.
I must say I love the large decorative wall behind the sofa that’s composed of wooden squares and accented by a series of black-and-white photographs.
One of the most extraordinary features of the suite has got to be the cellar, specially designed to blend into the living room’s décor, storing a selection of bottles and magnums of the most remarkable vintages of Dom Pérignon Blanc and Rosé from the last two decades.
A custom-made marble table surrounded by “P2” glass walls forms the dining room, one of the central elements of the suite. The Dom Pérignon logo also hangs proudly here on the black accent wall.
Just across the room, the terrace is another great spot to take a seat, Champagne in hand, and admire views over the Mediterranean.
The suite’s sumptuous bedroom also happens to offer fantastic views over the casino, with a private balcony overlooking the square.
Now I think it’s time to sit down for an exceptional dinner.
PART 3: Michelin-starred dining with Dom Pérignon Plenitude 2
I’ve come to my third outfit of the day, a Tom Ford suit and tie from Society Club Monaco. One can never be overdressed for such rare opportunity like this one.
Dreamt up by Alain Ducasse and prepared by the Hôtel de Paris’s Executive Chef, Franck Cerutti, the five-course dinner has been orchestrated to create a perfect harmony between the delicious cuisine and Dom Pérignon Second Plenitude 1998.
The Dom Pérignon P2 Prestige Cuvée brings a blend of complexity and pleasure to enhance a starter like this one.
The second plate is also just as beautifully made: chilled gamberoni from San Remo with venere rice, a lemon verbena aroma and kumquats.
Every sense is stimulated with this meal that’s perfect for hosting dinner parties of up to six. To see some of the meal’s other courses, take a look at the following menu :
If you really look for the ultimate Dom Pérignon experience, post up for a three-night stay in HPMC321 x Dom Pérignon suite and you’ll be invited on a complimentary tour of the legendary Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo wine cellar, the largest hotel wine cellar in the world.
I found this experience starting at 4500€ per night truly mind-blowing and it’s one that I can recommend to all Dom Pérignon connoisseurs, as well as anyone who loves fine dining and wine and are looking for the most exclusive experiences in Monte-Carlo.
